Technique & Materials
Hot Gold Foil stamping is an exclusive printing technique that transfers gold foils to a surface at high temperatures with a metallic matrix, and is used as the first choice to ensure the best results for gold prints, beating Pantone’s metallic inks and silk-printing in luminosity, shininess and overall quality, particularly on black papers. Also, by gently indenting the paper (debossing), foil stamping offers a texture variety that will nicely affects the brightness and reflectiveness of our golden lines.
Thanks to the collaboration with our partner in Italy - one the finest Printer Shop internationally known for the high quality of their works for luxury brands (Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Versace, Diesel, Nike and more) – we were also able to apply the foil stamping technique to very large dimensions, arriving at 70x100cm (27,6x39,4 in), whereas the technique is usually bound to business cards format, making the Thin Gold Line Collection Posters a rare feat in poster design.
NOTA BENE: We are using “real” hot gold foil stamping which is not to be confused with other gold foils techniques, like “faux” foil stampings, serigraphy or gold foil application with laminators, that are cheaper but that unfortunately can’t reach the same high-quality results and dimensions.
Black is essential for the The Thin Gold Line, as it is the scenery of the minimalist depictions. Mystery is black, darkness is where the light shines, where the art prints will have their meaning restored by your imagination.
We are therefore using Fedrigoni’s paper, as it is the highest quality paper for printing since 1717. Precisely, we are using the Sirio Ultra Black paper, which is the blackest paper in the world, nearly 20% darker than the already very black Sirio Black paper.
NOTA BENE: the absence of carbon in the coloration’s pigments used avoids the oxidation and spreckling problem on the golden line typical of other black papers.
In this Collection, gold is the element of light. Gold is synonymous to uniqueness and refinement. But we also used it for the estethical results gold and black can achieve toghether and the nobility it can evoke. Wanting to have the best shining and sparkling effects to offer, we used Kurz Luxor gold foils, the finest gold foils used by luxury brands, known for their color quality and uniformity.
